Work for Martin Livestock

We have a team of nearly 40 employees in California and Oregon. They consist of cowboys (cowmen), truck drivers, irrigators, maintenance personnel, and office staff. Every one of our team members is an important spoke in the wheel. There is not one spoke more important than the other. For the company to be efficient, everyone must work in unison for the end goal: producing high quality beef as efficiently as possible, while doing so in a sustainable and responsible manner.

Martin Livestock team members all go through BQA training about every 3 years. A refresher course never hurts anyone, and it always seems like we learn something new. BQA is important to us because we do not want your family to eat something we would not be willing to feed our families. We instill in our crew that we do not raise cattle, we produce food. We believe if you take care of the cattle, the cattle will take care of you and if you take care of the land, the land will take care of you. These things seem like common sense but not everyone sees it that way.

Opportunities

Internship

We are still putting together an official internship program for college aged students. We have had an unofficial internship most summers for young adults (some have been in college and others just ranch kids that were looking for a summer job). It is about three months in the summer, anywhere from May to September. Mostly we have the interns up at our ranches in Oregon calving out heifers and cows, branding calves, doctoring yearlings, and shipping and processing cattle. There are internship opportunities in California as well if Oregon isn’t preferred. The internship is paid. We try to work with our interns on what they are looking to learn from the internship and try and gear it a little more towards that. Experience in ranching is definitely recommended. The handier the better, but not a deal breaker. If you are interested in the internship give us a call or click the button below, so we can chat and see if it will work for both of us. We’ve only taken one intern at a time so far.  We are also considering a winter intern as well.

We don’t have any other job openings at the moment, but it never hurts to give Jr a call and/or send us a resume because you never know when something may happen - at least you are on our radar!
